The local grassroots organization, Green Solutions, recently partnered with students from Dr. Marjorie Bond's Monmouth College statistics class to complete a survey on the recycling habits of residents in Monmouth. The students surveyed 75 households in Monmouth from throughout the community to ask questions on if they currently recycle or not, and why. <read more>

2nd annual Computer Game Camp Scheduled for Nov 15
Preparation is well underway for the 2nd annual R U Game Smart Computer Game Design Camp at Prairie Tech Learning Center. The camp will be held at Prairie Tech Leaning Center on November 15th from 8am to 8pm. Eligible youths in grades 6 to 9 will learn the basics of Lua programming. Leading the camp this year will be Paul Schuytema and fellow programmers for University of Illinois Extension Mike Cokel and Nick Carlson.

TECHFEST 2008 coming Nov 7th
GALESBURG--Exhibitors are still being accepted for the 3rd annual TECHFEST at the Sandburg Mall in Galesburg. Last year's fair attracted over 40 exhibitors and this year is expected to be even bigger. Some of the booths already submitted include the Cisco Van, Glory Wind Turbines, Century Tel and a variety of booths from the three area colleges and one university involved in planning this yearly event. <read more>
